American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine

The Council of Teaching Hospitals (COTH) is a council of the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM). Membership in COTH is by institution, not individual. The COTH Administrative Board is comprised of representatives of institutions that conduct a podiatric residency program approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). Institutions with provisional approval by CPME are eligible for COTH membership. Membership is renewed annually and runs from July 1st through June 30th.

The Council of Teaching Hospitals is governed by an Administrative Board composed of representatives from COTH member institutions. One representative is elected from each of eight (8) designated geographical regions, one representative from the Department of Veterans Affairs and one representative of the American Podiatric Medical Students Association (APMSA). The Board also nominates a representative to the CPME Joint Residency Review Committee (JRRC) and maintains liaison relationships with other constituent organizations.

Organized in 1975, the mission of the Council of Teaching Hospitals is to strengthen and support the education and training of residents and faculty through the development and implementation of programs and services designed to meet the needs of educators and residents in postdoctoral podiatric medical education.

Benefits of Membership include:

Centralized Residency Interview Program (CRIP)
Established in 1986, CRIP is an interview system under which residency programs join together at one location to conduct final interviews with their applicants. Its purpose is to simplify and reduce the cost of the residency selection process.
